sandyleroy.jpgRoger and I are very pleased to welcome you to our web site. We hope you'll find the site attractive and easy to navigate, and the content useful and enjoyable. If you want to find out more about us and our company, learn about home staging or our painting services,  or get some guidance on how to care for your deck, you'll find answers here.

Keeping a home in good condition is more important than ever. Whether you plan to stay or plan to sell, regular maintenance, such as pressure-washing, deck care and painting, will help to protect your investment and greatly increase your enjoyment of your home.  And don't forget about the importance of color. If you plan to paint, the right colors make all the difference between an ordinary result and a spectacular one. If you're painting to sell, color will create warmth and appeal.

Color Consulting Services

Recently I was asked to do a color consultation for a couple who has lived in their Hendersonville home for about ten years, and wanted a change. Like many people, they loved the idea of adding color, but they were afraid of making a mistake. If this sounds familiar, let me help you find the perfect colors for your project.  In the process you'll come to see your house in a new light and begin to develop color confidence. A two hour color consultation is $150.

Option:  Free Color and Detailing Consultation for Our Clients

When you hire us to do an interior or exterior painting project, we'll include a free color consultation and samples.  If you have a color consultation first, then hire us to do the painting, we'll deduct the cost of the consultation.

A discussion of color is part of my standard staging consultation.

Pressure-Washing Services

It's time to clean your house and decks so you can enjoy outdoor living this summer, and that means a pressure-washing service call.  You can count on us to do the work the right way, without damaging your home or landscaping. Call me to schedule an estimate.

 Decorative Painting Project in Asheville

Recently Roger and I had the pleasure of working with our colleague Clifton Means on painting the interior of a very special historic home near the Grove Park Inn in Asheville. The home was designed by noted Asheville architect Henry Gaines, who also designed the Beckon Ridge estate in Flat Rock.

My first assignment was to apply a decorative glaze to the fourteen inch wide plaster molding in the living room that Gaines commissioned to duplicate the frieze of vines and birds that he designed for the carved wood fireplace mantle. Because the molding had been painted so many times since the house was built in the 1930's, much of the design detail wasn't visible until I applied the glaze to the entire molding, then wiped it off the high points to feature them in relief against the darker background.  One rewarding moment was when the owner saw for the first time that one of the birds in the design is an owl. The overall result is subtle, but the entire design can now be seen and the molding looks as if it's always been this way. There's more decorative painting to be done, and I'm looking forward to the next project.

"Smart Selling " Column:

Be sure to read my new column, "Smart Selling", written with my friend and colleague Mary Stephens of Prudential Lifestyle Realty. We share straight talk and practical information about how to be a smart seller - in any market. The column appears each Friday in the Real Estate section of the Hendersonville Times-News, and is posted on the Real Estate page of blueridgenow.com. The current column, as well as all the archived ones, can also be found here in the Staging and Redesign section.

A Special Message to Real Estate Agents:

Staging protects equity and is an essential competitive tool in this market. Educate your sellers about the benefits of staging. Send them here to learn what staging is and why they should do it. To help start the conversation, you'll find a brochure on the benefits of staging in the Staging & Redesign section that you can download and add to your listing packet, along with copies of  magazine articles that illustrate how staging has worked for sellers in this area. You're also welcome to tell your sellers to call me for more information.  Remember we can implement a lot of the recommendations we make, making the staging process much easier.

Thank you for visiting today, and please come back often.
